Abstract: The catalytic activity of novel homo- and heterobimetallic ruthenium complexes was investigated in the ATRP of MMA. The reactivity of two homobimetallic ruthenium complexes bearing a N-heterocyclic carbene ligand has been compared to that of the related phosphine-based complex: the control was more effective with the latter catalyst. On the other hand, Ti-Ru heterobimetallic complexes, in which a titanocene fragment is connected to a RuCl2(p-cymene)(PCy2) fragment via an ethylene spacer also led to a well-behaved polymerisation process with a satisfactory control over the molecular weight distribution.
